From freelancer to business owner

Eva is a brand designer and the self-styled ringleader of Flying Colors Creative. She helps bold service providers design unconventional brands so they can show up online with confidence. She started her business in 2019, straight after college, and joined ON IT as one of its very first members.

“It’s been helping me see myself less as a freelancer and more as a business owner.”

Rebrand

To mark five years in business, Eva rebranded herself and put her own process to the test with her trickiest client: herself. The project was fun, but the real challenge came afterwards. She needed time to implement everything she had created, which is the exact advice she gives her own clients.

Implement

Eva joined ON IT with one main goal: accountability to finish her own rebrand. Before, she had only done the branding itself. Now everything is in place, from her website to her Instagram.

“If it wasn’t for ON IT, I would still be designing my own website and procrastinating.”

Prioritise

Her attitude has shifted as well as her identity. Eva now does her marketing before client work in the mornings and checks her capacity each Monday before taking on anything extra. Looking at her numbers regularly has replaced the panic of a calendar that felt either empty or overflowing with clear, logical decisions.

The Role ON IT played

For Eva, ON IT is a space to put her business first. If she forgets to do it all month, she knows the time is waiting for her there. The community is her favourite part: a group of like-minded people sharing wins, struggles and frustrations.

“We tend to see ourselves from inside a jar, and we can’t see the label on the outside.”
