More freedom, less stress: Laura’s ON IT story

Laura is a Pinterest strategist who helps food bloggers get Pinterest working as a traffic engine for their websites. It all started one February evening, when she told her husband: “If I buy this course, I’ve actually got to do it.” Nearly four years later, she runs a business her past self never imagined, and this year she changed everything about how she runs it.

“The business has grown, but I’ve not had to increase my stress and workload to do it. I’ve decreased it.”

Stretched

On paper, Laura had a great little business with regular monthly income. In reality, her one-to-one Pinterest management work had her tied to her desk around the clock. She had no capacity to work on the business, and some lovely clients weren’t paying what they should. By the end of the year, she was asking herself whether to burn it all down and start again.

“Everyone says when you have your own business you get financial freedom and time freedom. It doesn’t quite work like that.”

Rebuild

Laura joined ON IT and added one-to-one strategy sprints with Alice. They started with a client audit, which she calls the most valuable thing she did all year. She brought in help with the management side, made some quick, brave decisions, and learned to say no. It felt uncomfortable, but she’s now proud of every no.

Teach

Laura has just finished delivering her first group coaching programme. Instead of doing all the work herself, she now teaches food bloggers exactly how she gets results. She loves it, and she’s running it again in January. She has more freedom, more control and more time, while the business keeps growing.

“I’ve got so much more control. Without feeling like I’m drowning.”

The Role ON IT played

For Laura, it all comes back to consistency. On the first Monday of every month, she steps back, reviews what worked and what didn’t, and leaves with a realistic plan built around what her month actually holds. She also plans her week in Notion during Monday co-working, blocking time for client work and for growing the business.

“I never would have done it if I hadn’t had that ON IT time to reflect. That’s what drives you forward.”

Rejoining was a no-brainer. Her word for this year was action. Next year’s? Easy.
