Chris runs Natively Animate Studios, a small agency creating motion graphics and video content. When he joined ON IT midway through the year, his business had been a side hustle for two years. Six months later, it’s his full-time business, and he’s running it from the other side of the world.
“Had I not joined ON IT, I think I might have got a little bit carried away with myself. Instead, I’ve been able to ask: what matters now? What’s important?”
Leap
Chris left full-time employment in March, and by May he and his partner had moved to Australia. That gave him two months to make the business work. He had a few steady clients he’d built strong relationships with, but there was still plenty to do to get his name out there and keep work coming in.
Travel
Chris has joined ON IT calls from the UK, from the airport and now from just outside Sydney, with New Zealand and Japan possibly next. Once he settled, his capacity grew a lot, and so did his vision. With a beach down the road and far more time, he could focus on the work he actually wanted to fill his days with.
Focus
Going full time brought plenty of ideas about new income streams and future opportunities. The real challenge was choosing which ones to pursue. Chris went from worrying he’d be on a plane home within a month to running a fully functioning business that brings in sales and produces work he’s proud of.
“It’s gone a lot better than I expected... surprisingly smoothly compared to what I thought it would be.”
The Role ON IT played
From day one, Chris made ON IT a non-negotiable: the first Monday of every month is for sitting down and working through the AB Method. He’d already read Alice’s book, but he says the guided process is what made the difference. It gives him clarity and a set of actions for the month ahead.
“If I didn’t join ON IT, my brain would just get really scrambled. I’d have so many ideas but no idea where to start.”
With his life changing every few weeks, focusing on one month at a time kept him grounded. Reflecting on what worked, and going easier on himself when things didn’t, stopped him from going down a rabbit hole.
“It’s been absolutely massive for me.”
