How to say no without feeling guilty in business | What are you saying 'no' to?
What are you saying no to this week?
You see, every time you say YES to something, whether that be to an opportunity, a new client, a day off or a certain goal, you’re also saying NO to something else. It’s something I like to call the YES/NO exchange and it’s really helped me make more informed decisions in my business. How to say no without feeling guilty in business is something I had to learn very quickly to move forward in business.
For example…
✖️YES to an exciting opportunity might mean NO to working a 4 day week
✖️YES to taking on a new client could mean NO to the free time to develop a new offerings
✖️YES to trying out that new platform may mean saying NO to the simple content planning you love
You get the gist - every action has an equal opposite reaction (credit: Newton… or Hamilton) and when it comes to our decisions it’s no different.
We’re each unique in where we want to be and what we’re up for doing in order to get there, so the YES/NO exchange is about empowering us to know what the true options are and make the decision which is right for us.
It’s allll too easy to see the shiny option and run towards that without giving much thought to what might also happen as a result... I know because that is me to a T😂
So as you’re making decisions and plans, consider, what are you saying no to… and is that a no you’re happy to make?
